3D computed tomography

CT scanning is among radiological diagnostic procedures. It allows imaging of tissues in three planes, providing doctors with much more useful information than more standard X-rays. It makes it easier for an implantologist to choose the right size of implant for a patient, an endodontist to analyze the course of root canals and assess the accuracy of the treatment performed, an orthodontist to detect retained and supernumerary teeth, and a periodontist to spot bone defects causing periodontal problems.

Tomography of teeth - the most accurate diagnosis of internal dental structures

At our Center for Modern Dentistry, we use 3D imaging techniques.

3D computed tomography has transformed the practice of dentistry, bringing us the ability to look at the anatomy of the mouth and surrounding structures in a way that cannot be achieved with traditional X-rays. This advanced technology allows us to analyze every aspect of a patient’s dental structure and health with incredible precision.

Tomography of the teeth, jaws and entire jaw is an examination that allows us to see all, invisible to the eye, dental changes that require immediate intervention. It is completely painless and non-invasive, and it requires little preparation. All we require of our patients is that they remove all metal objects from the head area that could interfere with the CT scanner. In addition, we use a specialized apron for the examination, which provides additional radiation protection for other parts of the body.

Dental tomography provides us with extremely important information about the number and structure of teeth, their location in the alveolus, as well as the condition of the structures and tissues surrounding the teeth. We use the 3D image that is produced by the CT scan to diagnose tooth decay, cysts and other problems that can occur in the course of daily dental and oral use. This procedure allows us to provide our patients with comprehensive dental treatment in a comfortable environment.

A wide spectrum of examinations

At the Center for Modern Dentistry you will perform Tomographs such as:

  • Spot tomography 5 x 5 cm
  • Tomography of one dental arch (maxilla or mandible) 5 x 11 cm
  • Tomography of the jaw with mandible 8cm x 11cm (magnified scan)

Our specialists are available to discuss the results with you and suggest the best treatment solutions.

The course of a CT scan

During the examination, the patient’s safety is always a priority. After eliminating contraindications to the CT scan, the patient is asked to remove all metal objects from the head area – earrings, necklaces, glasses, etc. He is put on a lead apron, which protects the non-imaged parts of the body from radiation. The patient stands still at the location indicated by the operator, holding a handle in his teeth to help him hold his head still in the desired position. It takes a few seconds for the image to be taken, during which time the CT head moves around the patient’s head. The recorded image is saved in a computer program that allows it to be processed and transformed into a 3D image.

3D CT is not only a diagnostic tool, but also key to creating effective treatment plans and predicting outcomes. It is an invaluable tool in maintaining the health and well-being of our patients, which is also tailored to their individual needs.
